steering shaft coupling for my 34 pickup
Does anyone know of a non-weld on coupling (u-joint), to couple two 3/4" shafts end to end, that will fit inside steering tube? I dont really want the u-joint to show. I think i will need the little angular misalignment leeway allowed by the u-joint. I have an f-1 shaft and wheel that almost reaches the steering box. and i am using an f100 steering box. My project was no way a candidate for restoration and I am just trying to get this old hotrod back on the rod. appreciate any knowledge passed on. Frankie

normally, either an f1, or an f100 shaft and box can be made to run in a straight line like the 34 was originally by correcting the mount on the frame, not by putting a u joint in the shaft. how is your box mounted?

As for adding a u-joint, it really needs to be the D or double flat-side style to be safe. This could be done with a little effort and a hand grinder. Last edited by JSeery; 06-19-2020 at 11:14 AM. |
