Very, very nice. '35 Fords have been my favorite since i was a kid. The pickup is, I think, the most beautiful of all the pu's .... personal opinion, of course.

My good old 37. Original paint, factory demonstrator color scheme. Rare DeLuxe version. Old V8 trucks are like a friendly old dog. You can not help but have positive emotional therapy while driving one. Working on one....well that might be a different story! (p.s. how do you post pictures at full size rather than thumbnails?)

My 35. On display at the California State Fair a couple of years ago. It is currently in the California Auto Museum in Sacramento. While it is nice to share it with the visitors to the museum, I miss not having it to go on old V8 driving adventures.

My 39 stateside p.u. While it might not be as pretty as the 35 or 37 it drives better and has a much more comfortable cab. Barrel nose trucks used to be called ugly. Now everyone seems to find it appealing.

I bought my barrel nose '39 when I sold my '40 1 1/2 ton flatbed. I wanted a p/u for its drivability over the flatbed. I wasn't initially sold on the looks of a barrel nose but now I wouldn't have anything else. '39 was the first year of hydraulic brakes which is definitely a plus. Another plus in my books is that it isn't a '40/'41. Not that there is anything wrong with them its just seems as if everyone has one or wants one.

Not only do I love the pickups in these photos, the photos themselves are works of art. An old riveted steel bridge, a train, or a corrugated metal building in the background makes all the difference. A blue tarp rotting off a pile of junk in the background, or a picture including a hammered dodge aspen with one mag wheel can ruin the whole shot. Some of the backdrop on craigslist adds just screams to me "Run Gary, RUN!" This is a great thread. And yeah, that blue 35 is the holy grail.

To me old V8 Ford trucks are special. As a kid in the 50's as our family travelled I searched the side streets, the back yards, the car lots, the farmers fields, the orchards for old V8 trucks. A trip to the Redwoods? A trip to the ocean? My memories were of the cast away, forgotten trucks. My dad and I restored the 35 and the 39 years ago. We did a couple more, including a 40 C.O.E. tow truck and my 37 panel. But to me the ultimate commercial Ford (besides 32-41 Sedan Deliveries) are the 32--34 open cabs. It took me half of my adult life to find one. This is it mocked up. I should gt to work on it but....

GB SISSON, Its pretty sad ,the old steel bridge our 35 is pictured with is gone, It was removed last month. I guess the township couldnt pay for necessary repairs, A local farmer moved it to his property so I wont be traveling over it in the the old truck. Im glad I took pics when I did...
