For what it is worth, I crawled under my 40 wagon and felt up above where the engine stay rod bolts are and there was no reinforcing doubler plate, checked my coupe and there was. My 40 wagon is a fairly late production 18 585xxxx. Maybe other 40 wagon owners can check theirs. Interesting.
