8BA oil filter connections

I am new to flathead V8's, have been working on model A bangers for years, so please bear with me.

I am beginning to assemble an 8BA short block and want to connect the original oil filter. The picture below is of the rear of the 8BA I am assembling. I was intending to connect the oil supply line to the oil filter to the connection point labelled "B", just below the oil pressure sender. What is connection point "A", does anyone know??

My other 8BA does not have a connection point at "A".

Take out the plugs senders and fittings.
take a rod inser through B port...if you have free passage so you can se it in port A you have a stock setup and can go ahead as planned...if there is a plug in there not letting you insert the rod you have a modification to the oiling system and need to change the filter setup.

To add to the above, or remove the plug. If you are using the original style by-pass oil filter you need to be sure the grub/set screw in the oil passage is removed. If the grub/set screw is present it indicates the block was modified for what is referred to as a 95% oil filter system. Or, it could be a factor block that was designed to use an oil cooler and/or oil filter. The factory block would not have the grub/set screw, it used a special fitting where the pressure sender is mounded that blocked the passage (from the photo you posted, that fitting is not present, so not an issue).

With the by-pass filter, be sure there is a restrictor (about .060) somewhere in the inlet side of the filter housing. Sometimes the restrictor in near the inlet to the filter and sometimes they are close to the outlet from the block.

Thanks for the responses. I can confirm that there is no grub screw in the oil passage and that ports A and B are connected.
For the return line from the bypass oil filter, could someone please confirm that I connect it to this point, circled below??

Does that hole go straight through to the crankcase? Or into the water jacket? I've only ever messed with pre 8ba stuff so have never seen a hole there before. Interesting.

It goes to the crank case, and appears to be 1/8" NPT. It looks like it will only just clear the lip of the oil pan as it makes it way into the crankcase. I am assuming it is the oil return but wanted to confirm.

Yes, that is the oil return port.
