39 gearbox thrust bearing
Anyone seen a thrust bearing like this one, I've not seen one?

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
I've seen a couple varients of those cluster gear thrust washers, but not one quite like that. Of course even at my old age....there are many things I have yet to see

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
Maybe Third Gen, Charlie ny, or MacVP could tell you a thing or two about that type of thrust washer.
May be even something unique to Canadian/Australian manufacture.

I think one of the other chaps, down under, was looking for that style of thrust washers.

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
I believe John has it....Canadian style thrust washer. I'd be shocked if Mac VanPelt did not have some in his inventory.

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
Rob, what I did was to machine the end of the cluster gear to fit the 8m-7129 t/washer, a little machining on the lathe and then mill the tang to fit the 8M -7129 washer

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
Thanks Lawrie, I've let Phil know he is probably capable of doing this.
Is that snap ring (?) that's in the end of the cluster normal for that type for thrust washer end.?

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
Hi Laurie, did that picture post upside down have anything to do with you being on the other side of the world? jk

Re: 39 gearbox thrust bearing
I've run into that form of a strange thrust washer twice. BOTH times they belong to two different customers both from Australia. I had some (very few)NOS and may have one left. It carries the Canadian part# C91A-7129. There were two different varieaties of it (C91A-7129-E and C91A-7129-F)

Yes Rob, I have.
just rebuilt my 38 box using that setup. I didnt use a new part as it was within spec when assembled. Maybe one of us should buy that new one from Mike. Dave h |
