I have an interest in a car that is in Southampton, NY and I live in CA. Will pay a reasonable fee if someone is in that area to check it out, wou;d always be available to do the same for someone over here. Thank you, just PM me.

Consider contacting an Early Ford V8 Club Regional Group that's on Long Island. You could find their contact information on the Early Ford V8 Clubs website:

I second the advice to contact Long Island RG 21. I had an issue with a seller on Long island some years ago, contacted the RG there, and my problems disappeared immediately. Not to say this is that kind of situation, but Long Islanders do seem to come through with their particular expertise when needed!

Richard (above) makes a great point. Go with a pro. However, in the end you must go see the car in person, no matter what anyone says.

Sooner the better before the car is sold to someone else. B if I miss out, that’s the way it goes.. It’s not an EFV8, just need a hobbyist car guy’s eyes on it, it’s in driver condition which is fine with me. Thanks

I agree with Richard.Get a pro.Its about $300.For example a buddy here found a 36 roadster on Auto Trader.Car was in NH. Auto Trader has a list of insp company's. The inspector spent a good amount of time and sent us a 17 page detailed report.Very satisfied.

Maybe go with the pro ,,,but don't buy from the Pro...
When the door came down on the Ply-Car delivery trailer and I looked in ... I thought to myself..Why Did I not get on a plane and go look for myself... He knew just how to answer and dance around my questions...! He had written books on restoration ,,Knew Jay Leno......!!! He didn't want to stand behind the sale at all like he said he would ... Thanks for reading my "Rant"... I feel better..... I usually pay .05 cent for my psychiatric help...

There are plenty of Early Ford V-8 folks in the "Club" as Richard calls it who know these cars like the back of their hands, and would be more than willing to help with something like this. Not all of our members are junk monkeys screwing up these old Ford's and sending them to his restoration shop to straighten out our messes

I bought a car in Vermont this way. You MUST see the car yourself. You send somebody from the hobby and they will buy it themselves if its that good of a deal. YOU need to go. Last edited by philipswanson; 02-21-2020 at 11:01 AM. |

A bit off topic but along the same lines. I flew from Crescent City, CA to Orange county Ca to look at a T-bird. Not what the seller claimed & I did not buy it, but I had a one way ticket as I was going to drive it back. My bad cause I had to hang around for three days until I could get a ticket back home. It was a lousy flight as Eureka was fogged in & we circled for a long time. Just before the pilot said we were heading back to Sacramento the ground controller said they had visibility for about 1/2 mile. Boy we took a nose dive & made a rough landing. Flight was terminated so they were bussing use to Crescent City about 100 miles. It was 2am & I had the back seat in a 9 passenger van full of old ladys with lots of cheap perfume on. When we arrived in CC I was nauseated from the odor. Woke the bride up @3am to come get me.

Brian;
If you think or even the lightest idea that was fun ,try it sometime. ha ha Funny now that it is over with. For an honest go see for yourself. Had a similar ripoff on the 34 roadster. I don't think the people checking the car out for me had the foggiest what they were looking at or for. |

I have noticed that some of us on here have a.... let us say, "more robust" sense of humor than others.
