Identify this alternator
Purchased a speedster based on 1931 Model A. It has been converted to 12 volts and this is the alternator. Is this a GM 10si? Just wanting to know for future reference. It is single wire and negative ground.

Re: Identify this alternator
Keep in mind that a stock 10si is NOT a one wire alternator. To convert a stock 10si to a one wire requires a kit to replace the stock VR with a self exciting one...
https://alternatorparts.com/self-exc...tallation.html Unless you are trying to eliminate a couple of wires in the engine compartment, I recommend sticking with a stock 3 wire 10si. It starts charging immediately and doesn't need momentary high RPMs to excite the VR. You also get a lead to an "idiot light" (if you choose to use it) that will tell you if it fails.
