It has been a while since I did mine and I thought it would only go in an end.
Mine was an original channel. Others with more knowledge may chime in.

John, I think that might be the answer. If I an get that bottom part bent up to a 45 degree angle, it might fit into the groove of the regulator.

If that does not work out you could get a good original set from Bert’s model a store.
