Default 1957 dash gage?

Is there a way to test the voltage reducer guage regulator? I am doing a conversion and am not sure if my regulator is any good. They can be expensive to just purchase a new one for testing only. Thanks for any help. Gerry

The way they are supposed to work is 12v in on one terminal and a pulsed voltage (5v) out on the other.
