These are really small, how do you get them to work with the socket?

All bulbs in the model A have the BA15S base. (Headlights BA15D).

The base is actually 5/8" diameter. Standard designations overtook us in the '70s - BAyonet 15mm Single contact. BA = straight pins, BAY = offset.
