Shelf for '31 pickup
Restoring a '31 pickup. At a meet this summer saw several trucks, hard top, with a shelf above the windshield just an inch or so from the top. Good for maps, etc. Are there plans for such a shelf?

Re: Shelf for '31 pickup
I have a '30 CCPU and I put in a shelf above the windscreen. Simple! I took a piece of sheet metal and folded one long edge down 90 degrees just enough to slide in behind the frame above the windscreen. The other side, I stiffened witha piece of wood and made sheetmetal ties to hang it off the first roof bow. I stiffened the bow too but not sure I needed to. It is deep enough to hold a radio, CB radio and other bits like sunglasses and GPS when not in use.

Keep your maps in the despatch box that is riveted to the right cowl panel. LeBarron Bonney shows what appears to be a good reproduction in their catalog.
