To remove the lock cylinder you will have to drill out the pin. Stop drilling when the first brass drill chip appears; you've gone far enough at that point. You can then carefully remove the lock cylinder pulling on the key plus perhaps a start to overcome the burrs the drilling will leave behind with a small diameter punch from the back side through the opening in back of the column bracket. Just a gentle tap will do as anything more strenuous carries the risk of rendering the lock cylinder useless.
Every single part for the assembly is available as a reproduction except the lock cylinder; check classified ads herein and ebay for a seller in Texas who is making the complete assembly and also selling the individual parts. Some others offer just the levers and on/off plates if that is all you need. |

I'll just take a flyer here and guess that the "Baxter" the O/P referred to is "Baxter Ford Parts" in Kansas. I have found them to be very helpful at times in the past. (I could be all wet, though.)

Did anyone takeover Baxter Ford? If so do they still perform repair services? It was my understanding that at least the service part was no longer in existence. Would sure be nice if it is!!

Give me a call and I'll walk you through the process. I am a stocking dealer for the new 32 column drops and have a complete rebuilding kit for them as well. Phil 845 551 5132

The photo below is from the ebay listing of the fellow in Texas that I mentioned above. The ignition switch components that you are missing are in the top row and the lever in the second row. I know from my own experience that he will sell the parts individually.
The back of your bracket has been modified as the original did not have the slot extending down to the opening for the steering column tube, but that should not hinder the operation of the lock/ignition switch when restored with the correct switch parts and lever. |
