Whats under this glass top hood of the above Skyliner? Not the original 239 Y Block. At least it is still a Ford. These "glass top" hoods were offered to Ford Dealers to show off the brand new 239 CID Y Block when it was first released in late 1953. They are a popular accessory on 1954 Fords these days, if you can find one in good condition. |

Sorry about the poor quality of this photo, as it was scanned from a colour print. It was a very unusual sight to see four Australian assembled 1954 Fords together, three Customline Sedans, and a Mainline Ute. This photo was taken back in 2000. These were the only two models/body styles offered in Australia. Out of these four examples, only two Sedans are seen locally. The blue sedan now resides in Victoria, while I don't know where the Ute has gone? |

Thanks,
The engine is a ‘56 292 with a ‘57 intake, I still have the stock 239 but it needs a rebuild and the 292 really makes this car go. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are having the 1954 Ford convention in Memphis, Tennessee in September.
I kinda like the 2 door "Ranch Wagons" ![]() This is ours.

Here is a "yesterday" story that may be interesting to myself only, when I was in high school in the early sixties, I worked in a service station (remember those?) and my boss was a Ford fanatic, and had a 54 Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon that he had installed a 312 in it with a T-85 overdrive trans and some lower gears. I know, they are all 312s, but this one was. Engine was tweaked a bit, and man that thing would scoot! In my senior year I had put together a 53 Studie coupe with some goodies in the later engine, and it was okay. (well maybe more than just okay) and I always wanted to race him, but he never would. He traded the car in on a new 63 Galaxie, and I never saw it again. The car was really nice, black and white with a red and white interior with horses or cows or some thing like it as a design.

Since I just brought this baby home yesterday, this must be my favorite body style. Crestline Sunliner with a 239. Mostly stock. Runs great. I asked about the 55 Victoria roofline a while ago because I thought that was going to be in my garage. Wife said, "Shouldn't we get a convertible instead of a hard top..." So we did... I think I'll be asking a lot of questions soon...

Thanks fordlovr to posting this picture of an Australian Mainline Ute, however, it is a 1953 model, not 1954. Very nice. You don't see many of these in Australia these days. |
