Question about hubcaps not fitting.
I picked up a set of rims/tires for my 1932 ford roadster (wheels are 1940 ford steel wheels) I mounted them and noticed that it’s not possible to run a hubcap due to lack of clearance ,not allowing the hubcaps to snap into place
Is it possible to run hubcaps /1940s steel wheels? Or do I need to run a set of 16” wire wheels to be able to run hubcaps ? The car is bone stock aside from the 1940s ford steel wheels. I have some 1940s hydraulic brakes for front and rear but they aren’t installed yet |

Re: Question about hubcaps not fitting.
I am not that familiar with a 32? I own a 47 Ford, however I was thinking your all stock so probably using stock caps or want to? Have you tried to get the cap to the wheel without the grease cap on? or does the cap have a different type of lip to snap on to the wheel compared to the wire ones. Is the cap diameter for a 40 the same as the 32.
just a thought. |

Do you still have the mechanical brakes or converted to hydraulic? Just a suggestion. The Cal Custom baby moons from the 1960's era might fit as they are slightly deeper,if you want to run those .Tough to find.I placed a wanted ad on the HAMB and got some but that was 4 yrs ago. Re: Question about hubcaps not fitting.
That's quite a big grease cap. On my 48 they are shorter and rounder on the end. that may make a difference in being able to get a hubcap to seat.

TJ brought up a good point. You should use the '40 spindles. You will need a steering arm which are available aftermarket or you could have your 32 arm tig welded on the '40 spindle by a certified welder. Last edited by deuce lover; 08-21-2018 at 11:23 AM. |

Re: Question about hubcaps not fitting.
If you are going to install the '40 brakes you should consider using the '40 spindles also.
