I've been stripping my cab of everything to prepare for paint. It had firewall insulation in it. Was this original to the vehicle or was this something added? Thanks

I got my one piece firewall insulator from Joes Antique part#75-700770-1 for 37-39 trucks. It is a thick molded ABS plastic textured panel that has the "chicken scratch" texture.
This one fit perfect in my cab but I did have to get the longer 7/8" insulator studs part# 48-7001670-A due to the thicker design. I also had to open up the holes through the insulator padding so the cab choke/throttle rods moved freely. As far as prepping for paint, tap all your floorboard screws and put some 1/4"-20 cheapo bolts in those holes before you begin, you won't have to remove primer/paint later. Hello, I am not finding an answer to a question That's most likely been asked. Does anyone make original type cardboard firewall pad not the ABS ??
