That crack is the result of heat from the exhaust crossover. The aluminum was on the verge of melting. Excess heat is caused by retarded timing or a lean fuel mixture. If you have the original vacuum only Load-O-Matic distributor, the diaphragm may be blown. If the carb is not original, the Load-O-Matic will not give the right advance.
