On my '32 I placed a jumper wire across the the posts on the ammeter so only 1/2 (approx) of the current goes through the meter. Now all I have to do is double the amps in my head when reading the meter. You may be able to do this at the junction box depending on your wiring diagram. Read up on the quality of the reproduction ammeters before you make your decision.
