Sounds like you are getting things under control but I would like to add that the cleaning of a cooling system like yours is a three step process.
1. remove grease and oils. 2. de rust as several have suggested. 3.Use a rust converter such as Evapo Rust. Flushing in between as most have suggested to do on this forum. Good luck, Jack |
