Hey Folks,
A few years back I picked up a RHD Chassis that was under a 29 Phaeton that supposedly came from Argentina. Anyways fast forward 6 years and I'm getting into the motor. Other than rust buildup in the cycling era from sitting everything seemed in good shape other than being filthy. So we started pulling it apart and checking things out. First thing we noticed was the pistons and front pulley are marked Industria Argentina. The valve seats seem to be sunk below the deck surface. Then we Started by checking rod clearances on #1, #2 and #4 came out spot on at .0015, #3 came in at .002. #3 and #4 had some home made shims. Rod journals measured .030 under at 1.469. Big issue is the #4 rod journal has a bunch of pitting. After pulling the first piston we found a 4 ring pistons, I'm guessing these are original. Piston 1 thru 3 looked ok, 4 had some rust a stuck bottom ring. That's as far as we got today, crank will come out next weekend. |

Finally was able to upload more pics, had some problems but after resizing and re naming I was successful.
I was hoping I was going to get away with hone and rings on this one just to have a runner while I'm building my BIG inch hot rod banger but that #4 rod journal doesn't look too good to me. Also from what I've read ring sets are no longer available for the 4 rings style piston? Looks like the valve seats also have been replaced but sit too low? More investigation is needed there. |

I have had parts with "Industria Argentina" off various RHD cars from South America . Cylinder heads ,flywheel housings, waterpumps, trans gears, clutchplates, emergency brake carriers etc etc . Not as nicely made as USA but did the job . Go to YouTube and check out the Argentine club site some very nice cars and lots of them .

Ford Argentina built more than 100.000 cars in their Buenos Aires plant. I have no notice that the engine was built here, but we fabricate a lot of parts here, especially during second war. Many of them were exported to diferents countries

Hi Pluck,
Unfortunately it looks like it has been re stamped. You can feel where it was ground down on the pad as it is no longer flat. |

Hey Folks
Did some more disassembly and found some more Industria Argentina markings. This time on the cam gear, looks like it's plastic. Also got the crank out and found more pitting, old oil and water are not friendly ![]() |
