Default 1937 Ford p/u rad support/ grill support question

I'm looking over my un-restored 37 pickup. It is missing the radiator and related supports. Can any body tell me what the rad was mounted to the frame by? Any pictures of the support brackets or are they available in reproduction.
Second, how/where did the grill mount. Was is attached to the rad or was there additional support brackets? I see Bob Drake list a p/u grill bracket/support piece( but no photo)

Much appreciated.

The Green Book would be helpful for you. The attached is passenger car. Well, found a 38, but not a 37 yet!

I found Chassis Engineering offer this part.
http://www.chassisengineeringinc.com...935-1939-ford/

That would be a quick solution but I'm not so big of a hurray if I can find an original part. Regardless, I wasnt sure what I was or wasnt missing and no reference to go by. Not sure what I am looking for.
I imagine the grill sat over the rad cap in some fashion but question if it secured to the rad in some fashion. ie bolted to tabs

The base part numbers on the illustration will be the same (for the most part) from year to year.

I believe they are reproduced. I just searched "ford green bible" and there it is. I see on CD as well. I should have picked one up by now.

I'm not familiar with the '37 pickup but it probably just bolts to the top of the frame crossmember using a spring over the bolt. The spring allows for some movement. The radiator will have a tab on each bottom corner that the bolt goes through. The top is held in place with the support rods. The Chassis Engineering part you show is used with a modern engine/radiator combo such as in a street rod. There may also be some other shrouds that direct air through the rad.

In paper form (not cheap), on CD with several other early manual (very useful) or free in digital format. I have two hard copies, the CD version and the digital loaded on my computer hard drive. I use the digital version the most. The digital version is on the Early V8 Club site.

One site that sells the CD: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Green-B...3D161437415232

The 1937 commercial was a transition year. A lot of stuff is one year only. They are similar to the 35/36 but have characteristics that went on to 1938 too. One of our regulars put together information for a book to cover the 35/36/37 commercial models but the EFV8 club hasn't acted on it yet.

The 1941 car models are another one of those years where a lot of changes were one year only. It makes it not only hard to find info but also hard to find parts for these types.

The radiator sits on a bracket each side that is bolted to the chassis. It has a rubber pad and spring loaded bolt as already mentioned. The grill has two bolts each side at the bottom that bolt trough the inner guard and fender. At the top there are two small bolts that bolt onto the top of the radiator just behind the radiator cap.If you have the correct radiator you will see where this is. The 37 pickup/truck radiator is year specific and has curved side braces that run from the top tank to bottom tank that follow closely the the inside of the grill to make sure that the air goes through the radiator and not around it. I can take some photos if you like. Cheers Tony.

Kiwitony- Very helpful- Thank you. The original rad for my truck is gone. Yes photo's please!!!
I think I recall seeing the bolt/spring kit through Drake(?). The frame must have specific bracket the rad bottom bolts to??
Any recommendation for a replacement radiator?

The grille/radiator support for the '37 trucks is a one year item. Ford used the 85 & 60 hp V8 in the 1/2 ton trucks, the 60 hp support will only fit the V8 60 engine.
I restored a '37 1/2 ton many years ago, I was sold a perfect radiator and core support that was rather odd looking, was told it was a HD desert unit, had what appeared to be a shroud in front of the radiator. Turned out the radiator was for the V8 60. The radiator appears to be the same as a 85 V8 only with smaller upper/lower tubes.
I have attached 3 pix of the radiator and core support for your info.
The radiator has been sitting up on the rafters in my garage since 1964..

Your photos are much appreciated Bill. I'm starting to fill in the blanks. Are you saying you have this rad pictured for sale?

Yes, the radiator is for sale. I think the 'set back' portion on the core support could be removed which would allow the unit to be moved forward into the grille shell for use in a 85 hp vehicle.. The inlets/out-lets would have to be changed to the 85 hp style in lieu of the smaller V8 60's. If tou review the pix I attached you will note that the fill neck has been moved to the front of the neck to allow for the set-back, this modification could be changed by blocking off the hole in the front of the tank, relocating the fill neck to the center of the tank.
The core in the radiator is in excellent condition. The unit is quite heavy so it would be expensive to ship it up to you. I could build a packing crate for it to eliminate the possibility of damage to the unit.
PM me for pricing...

Foot note to my comments about the '37 V8 60 radiator.
While I was restoring the '37 pickup in about 1963 I used the V8 60 radiator on the truck w/out the grille shell so I could put some miles on the power-train before I painted the truck.
The radiator worked as it should when I placed the radiator into the 85 engine location on the frame, no problem attaching the hood, however the grill would not fit onto the radiator.

Blucar-i expect to put an 8ba in it as I doubt I'll find a correct 85hp engine to rebuild. Your rad might need more modification than practical. Not saying no but I need to research this more and I've just begun to look into my options. If anyone can chime in about this would be helpful.
