Default 1940 Ford Coupe front seat question

I just had a local upholsterer install a LB seat kit on the original 40 coupe front seat. He did a very nice job , but one question yet.....on the top of the seat back where the hinges are located, do these hinges get covered with any material or are they suppose to be exposed and visible from the top looking down? It may very well be correct this way , but just wondering.
maybe somebody can post a picture of their 40 coupe that shows this area?
Would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Steve, I'll post a photo later tonight. Is this a business coupe or a coupe?

Steve: If you desire 100% correct high quality restoration standards follow Kube's photos when he posts them. I have attached the way I did it back in 1978. It is not 100% correct since I used velcro to adhere the cardboard piece with the welting to the wood shelf piece and I did not fasten the "flap" that moves in and out when you adjust your seat because I didn't want to have to "untack it" if I ever needed to remove the entire seat. My "flap" material from the front seat backrest covers the hinges and just lays loosely over the top of the cardboard piece with the welting. I had to unbolt my seat last week to work on the transmission easily and took these photos just now. This is in no way an attempt to usurp Mr. Kubarth as I respect him as the professional 40 Ford restorer who is "the master". I am an amateur and also look forward to seeing his photos. I don't think that pebble grain pebble grain vinyl that comes with the LB kit is an authentic reproduction. Mike will know for sure.

Master? Ha! Fooled you

Steve, What Jim has shown in his photos is correct except as he says, the Velcro. That flap is meant to expand / retract if and when the seat would be moved forward or aft.
I may have other photos if you still so desire.

I just looked at 19Fordy pictures again.....Does that "flap" velcrowed to the package trey or is it part of the seat? I was thinking there was something that should cover the hinges on the seat back.

Steve, That flap is a part of the upholstery for the front seat. It covers the hinges. In the photo I raised it up so you could see the hinge. The first photo has it covering the hinges after final installation. The Velcro idea was not used by Henry Ford. I just did to make it easy to unattach the flap from the package tray for easy removal of the front seat, if needed.
