Default hood differences

Is the hood design from a 28-29 different from one used on a 30-31?

See the Judging Standards. Simple answer is yes, quite different.

Same idea, different dimensions.

Also, 4 different hoods in 1928-1929. All 1930-31 hoods are the same.

On my 30 coupe the length at the top of the hood side aprons measure 31.5" at the top.
30" at the bottom measuring front to back. This leaves a 1/2" gap at the bottom.
Is this standard with a 30 hood? or do I have the wrong hood ?

I measured one and came up with 31" at the bottom and 31 1/2" at the top.

I have four here less than 10 feet from me.They all measure 31 at the bottom and 31.5 at the top.The gap isn't the hood,it is a sagging body or frame that causes that gap.

Sounds like you frame is sagging at the rear motor mount, a lot of them do. No one wants to check the frame because they think they are ok.

Not the frame, which was I had thought. I removed the body, checked the frame for sagging, it was not bad, less than 1/8" of sag, so I straightened it, now it's as close to perfect as I can get. Shimmed the body, it was missing the rear body blocks as some of the rubber pads.
Put the hood back on,....the hood fit looks not a lot different than when I started.....Damm !
