Horn question - 46 coupe
I am rewiring my car and one of the things left to finish is the two trumpet horns... the cloth covering is gone and the wires exposed all the way into the back of the horn. I don't see how to open the horns and redo the wiring... Does anyone have any suggestions on how to open these horns? Might be easier to just find replacements.
Thanks |

Re: Horn question - 46 coupe
The covers are just a press fit on to the body. Look along the edge of the cover where it meets the body and you will see some small indentations. Take a thin blade and gently pry up on the cover. It should just pop off.

You may have to drill out some type of rivets. Or, perhaps you can slide in a piece of heat shrink tubing where the OEM wire enters the horn. Here's a pictorial.

Re: Horn question - 46 coupe
yeah, mine appear to have rivets holding it together. Not screws...

Re: Horn question - 46 coupe
Don't drill or grind off the rivet head, that's just the head of the bolt, pop off the cap. The wire is soldered on a post on the inside.

Re: Horn question - 46 coupe
There is a single screw on the end of the cap but the cap itself is removed as Gary indicated. No need to remove rivets.
