Default 40-41 pickup seat questions

I asked about this previously (I think) but am still confused. DUH!

Does any body have to post here, or a link to:

how the seat looks on the back side of both bottom and back cushions

PLUS

how they mount both on the riser and the cab back?

The "Two Great Trucks" doesn't have it.

Thanks!

there is a hinge that holds the two parts together. to adjust the seat one was to pick up the lower cushion and move it to one of the three holes that located on the riser with a sort of nub. the back has a shaped flat that connected to the "hinge" part of the lower cushion and on the other end was a flat which fits into a slot on the back of the cab. If this does not do it for you-I will try to get some pictures, my seat cushions are stored away from the truck so it might take awhile

Thanks for the reply. My cushions seem to be wrong. The back has a hinge half, but none on the base cushion. The back actually fits better with hinge half at the top, rather than at the bottom. Also no sign of a tab on the cushion.

Do these help? The hinge most definitely goes to the bottom.

Here is a pic of an old seat assembly showing the hinges and the "tabs" that fit into the slots on the cab rear wall.

Thanks! Pics are perfect!

What I am thinking now is my back cushion must actually be the bottom one, it's missing the bottom panel with the three adjustment holes.

But the other cushion (back) doesn't have the connecting hinge arms, or the tabs.

So the bottom is the smaller of the two?

Considering how fubar some of this truck is, the seat doesn't surprise me.
Back to the drawing board. Or the welder. Or the high back Firebird buckets.

there are two styles of seat for 40-46 cabs.
The 40-41 seats work as previously described.
Later cabs have a seat cushion that is not connected to the seat back. It is hinged at the top and attaches to the cab just below the rear window. On this configuration there is a board hinged to the back of the cab that runs horizontally across the width of the cab. To adjust the rake of the setback the backrest is pulled from the bottom and the board is rotated to hold the bottom of the backrest forward toward the dash.
If you have a 40-41 cab it will have the seat back hinged to the bottom seat cushion.
Later cab seatbacks are hinged at the top with the "adjustment board".

Thanks, 41LjH.

Anyone have pics of this setup?

I may have a 41 cab with late style seat.

Still confused, so all is normal.

It is unlikely you have a 41 cab with a later seat because it's a lot of trouble to install the adjusting board and top cushion hinges inside the cab.
Post #5 is the correct seat for a 41 cab.
Attached are pictures of my seat. The slots below the window were mangled so I cut the top tabs off the seat. This may have been done with your cab.
The board at the base of the bottom cushion has three holes, 2 are visible top left of the second picture. To adjust the seat pull the base toward the dash and engage one of the holes over the peg on the metal riser( photo 3).
I don't have pictures of the later configuration.
If your seat is hinged at the bottom it is a 40-41 seat, see photo 1 and post #5.
If there is no evidence of a hinge between the bottom cushion and the seat back it is a later seat. Someone may have put a later seat in an early cab, but if the cab was made for the later seat you will find hinges attached on the cab below the rear window to hinge the seat back at the top, and another set of hinges part way down the back of the cab for the adjusting board. It these hinges are present look for evidence the gas filler was on the B pillar. If you see that you have a later cab because the gas tank was moved under the seat after 41. This can be confusing, I hope this helps.
