Yes it is Canadian, and sought after.
Read about it in the new RG&JS Rev 4.

A friend gave me a coil for a 50's Hudson, even the same mounting bracket!

I'd guess they are both made by Autolite.

The Hudson one says "Autolite" on it. I haven't put a multimeter on it yet to see how it compares electrically.
