Parts made in USA

I remember a fuss back in the 1960's when the Japanese named new industrial areas such names as USA, England, Sheffield, Birmingham etc. They wouldn't have been lying if they said a part was made in say, USA but knew that people in the US would read it the way wanted to. Cunning!
