Re: backup camera
Tom Endy has an article on the Santa Anita As web site (along with a bunch of other very informative articles...http://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-conte...Behind-You.pdf
I was looking at the Garmin wireless BU camera to link to my Garmin GPS https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-t...rod501486.html, maybe Santa will put it in my stocking... Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 11-17-2016 at 12:45 PM. Reason: Add Santa Anita and Garmin urls |

Re: backup camera
like I said before, with all these add ons they are not a Model A Fords any longer, they are a customized old car. Too bad we can't enjoy the car the way Henry built it. They don't add on a 2010 accessory to a 57 Chevy. No wonder many have left the hobby. Wayne

You will need a switch. I could not figure out a way to close the circuit when I put it in reverse. |

Re: backup camera
I have had one for 3 years. Although I have a 12 volt system. You could get around that issue if you had a 6 volt system. I have it on a 31 4 door slant window. I like it especially on tours to keep an eye on the car behind me. I have it hooked up to a toggle switch and just periodically engage it to see behind me. I have a rear spare tire and mounted it on the back side of the wheel spokes seeing through them. It hides it well and is fastend with black wire ties on the black wheel spokes

Re: backup camera
That is basically what I was thinking. With the Garmin you can switch from the BU camera to the GPS on the screen.

Re: backup camera
One of our members mounted a BU camera in his panel truck. Not sure how he did it. Really neat installation.

Re: backup camera
I have a Garmin GPS in my pickup, but I don't think it has an option for a back-up camera.

Re: backup camera
I guess with 75,000 plus Fordbarn members we dont have to worry about a half dozen modernites changing our hobby. I personally have an A because I want it to look 85 years old. I was glad to see a person refused judging at a car show in the summer because of too many enhancements. They told him to enter in the hot rod group. Wayne

Re: backup camera
It would be nice if someone who is choosing to add a back up camera in the future would do a video of the installation as they put it in a Model A. ... And hey, be sure to film it with your camera or cell phone camera turned in the correct orientation so folk can see more than just a narrow picture screen when your done. :-)

Anyone tried this one out? Bill, my license plate probably conveys about the same idea. Not sure if I need to put it on the front or the back though. :-) |

Re: backup camera
Me, I am like Kathy Bate's character, Evelyn Couch, in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes when she smashed into the VW of those two brat gals, backed up and did it again and again. "I'm older and I have more insurance," she said. :-)
