Dryer sheets and electronic rodent chasers sold at ACE and Home Depot & Lowe's seem to also work.

I'm not kidding. My dad bought one of the electronic units. I came out one night and a dang mouse was sitting on top of it. Maybe his was defective, but I threw it right in the trash.

I also have one, and haven't seen any evidence that it does any good.

One guy said leaving a radio playing will keep the mice away, but that isn't so either. 10 years ago a neighbor and I were sitting in the doorway to the garage talking, and a radio was on the floor playing, when a mouse ran right past us into the garage. That's when I started throwing mothballs around the garage and near the doors.
