Default Lube points and proceedure

Would someone be able to outline what lube points there are and how to lube them for my 36 roadster. I have the lube chart but I'm not sure where to use oil, and grease etc and how to apply. As an example there appears to be a lube point at the front of the generator but do I just squirt a bit of oil into it or is there a proper approach? I'm reasonably good technically but its not a big part of restoring race motorcycles so I feel I'm lacking knowledge.
