Default Rear brake adjustment

In the process of adjusting my brakes for the first time, I found that one of the brake adjustment wedges will not click when it's turned , it's also harder to turn than the others .....three seem to work fine . Any things to check first ,any advise and thanks in advance

Tough question. Did you put on new linings? Jack up all wheels off the ground and start from there. Check brake rod lengths. There are many threads here about adjusting brakes.

Hope you have the proper size square socket so you can put some pressure on the adjuster. Bob

Lots of Model A's got "New Brakes when restored" WRONG! You might find they need a complete rebuild from the backing plates out to the tracks wedges etc.

I have a great CCPU but... almost $2,000 later I now have great mechanical brakes with cast iron drums. Just turning drums and new linings generally do not cut it.

Just my 1.5 cents worth (all I have left in my pocket after the job LOL)

there is some disassembly in your future.
The rears are harder since you need a hub puller.
Inspection of the inner mechanism is needed. The wedge may be worn, or filled with hard crud, especially if it does not want to turn.
You will most likely find a lot of wear on a lot of parts

I agree with barkleydave that when mechanical brakes are properly restored and all the lash is removed from so many places, you end up with brakes that are equal to modern hydraulics.

There are many threads here on brake overhaul, too much to go into to start all over again here

I had the same problem with a front brake. I had to remove the drum to check what was happening. I removed the adjusting brake wedge cover and it was the white lube that became hard. And just gummed everything up. Cleaned it up and now it works great.

Make sure it is jacked up under the axles if not the brake rods will pull the brakes on and your adjustnent will be wrong. I don't recommend adjusting brakes till you check everything out first by pulling the drums. What good is adjusting if your metal to metal or your adjuster wedge needs service. A lot goes into making these mechanicals proper
Do searches on the barn lots to read
