My 41 column shift lever just has a threaded end on it which previous owner had fashioned a piece of wood onto for a shift knob. I noticed all the replacement shift knobs are advertised as "push on knob' not threaded for insertion onto the end of the lever. I'm wondering if the end of the shifter originally had a threaded insert which threaded onto it with outside serrations which the knob pushed over. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

I've got a 41 rolling chassis sitting out back. I'll go have a look-see.

No knob on it, but the shift lever isn't threaded. It has about an inch of serrations for a push-on knob.
