Need some laquer
Howdy,
Does anybody have a source for some lacquer. I'm needing probably a pint of Stone Dark Grey to spot in the accent stripe for a repair. Since my usual local supplier has no more tint to mix that color in lacquer, I was going to try and spot in the accent stripe with some urethane since he can custom color match with that product. I'd rather use a little lacquer as that's what the car is shot in and I have some Stone Brown in lacquer for the main color. It looks like the daze of lacquer are all but gone. Gary |

Re: Need some laquer
I always thought they used enamel to stripe a lacquer paint job?

Re: Need some laquer
I'm talking about the contour stripe not the pin stripe.
The common combo that I'm dealing with is Stone Brown, Stone Brown Grey w/ Tacoma Creme pin stripe. I have 2 quarts of Stone Brown in color matched lacquer. I can't get the Grey as my local supplier doesn't have and can't get all of the color tints. |

Re: Need some laquer
I have striped a bunch of cars and as stated, try to use enamel. There is striping paint usually available at art supply stores. You can get white and then tint with black to hopefully get you to your color. I did this with the Model A Vermillion, Straw and others. Enamel can be wiped off if a correction is needed and won't dissolve the lacquer base paint.
Just saw your other post. Try TCP Global in southern Cal. |

To stay on track, I do not need striping enamel!! A lacquer supplier. That is what I need. |

Re: Need some laquer
Thanks Art and Dodge,
The aerosol is interesting. That may come in handy some day. I'll check out Hirsch. I see Mac's has a quart of PPG which is what I'm used to and what my supplier is out of. $200 Ughh!! Oh well one must pay to play sometimes. Gary |

Re: Need some laquer
As a final, went to TCP and bought a quart of PPG lacquer. $190 including shipping. Will paint floors in DCC and spot and finish in Dura Cryl on the body.
Thanks All, Gary |
