Default Main Bearing Cap Number

I have a main bearing cap with part number A-6880. I can't find any details on this cap. I would guess that it is a replacement cap. Does anyone have information on if this is for #1 or #2?

Thanks
Ron

6330 is a front or center main cap.

Thanks Bob, it's on the front and wanted to make sure. I couldn't find anything by Google and it looked like an 8.

The center cap has the edge squared off on both ends, but the front cap has the babbit rounded on one side.

Thanks Tom. For my knowledge bank, why is the front cap babbit rounded or chamfered on the front cap?

I'd have to do some checking, but I think it was on the rear side of the front cap that had the rounded edge to match the radius in the crankshaft bearing surface.

Maybe Herm has some main bearing pictures to show for sure what goes where.

The babbitt is not radiused on the front of the front bearing because it faces the crank gear and there is no radius on the crank or gear. The front is only radiused on the rear side and the center is on both sides as is the rear.
