Rear backing plate question
I have a 1928 roadster. I just received my newly rebuilt backing plates. I ordered new bolts and the shouldered nuts to mount the backing plate to the axle housing. When I mount the backing plates and tighten the four nuts tight I still need to turn the nut in another 1/4 inch to be able to get the cotter pin into the hole in the bolt. When I took the backing plates off to be rebuilt the four bolts did not have the special shouldered nuts on them they just had a regular castled nut on them. Did the 28s have a thicker grease baffle then the later year cars? Thanks in advance for assistance you can provide.

Re: Rear backing plate question
Do the rears on some have a grease baffle? My 28 doesn't have grease baffles on the rear. I'm trying to learn all i can. I'm interested to hear what the differences are. I have some of those shouldered nuts i got on a parts rear and or somehow acquired them, never used them though.
