Default Hall Depth Gauge

Have any of you flathead experts heard of this tool before? It's called the Hall Depth Gauge. My dad's buddy gave this to me awhile back since he knew I was into old cars; I think it was his father's. After reading the instructions several times I'm still not certain how to use it properly. Any pointers? Looks like it could be super helpful for setting valve clearances with solid lifters.

Looks like a time saver, The one I use don't have the dial indicator on it ,I would be interested in buying the one you have should you decide to sell it ,it helps measure the distance differential between the valve and seat and one don't have any guesswork at all as to how much to remove from the valve in order to get the right clearance. Very nifty little tool ,keep me in mind if you want to sell it .
Thanks,

I use the tool in conjunction with my valve grinder. Very useful.

I have a manual one that I use with my valve grinder - sure wish I had this one though! Great find - put it to good use. If not, sell it to one of us . . . we all could use it! Take care.

Bought one just like it at a swap meet last year for $30.00. The guy said it was the last piece of valve grinding equipment he had left.
