Default cowl vent gaskets..

Looking @ gaskets and would like some input on the various manufactures offerings out there. Input on fitment would be great as it seems there are (two) 2 available for my 39 P/U. Scott

In the past the only gasket that fit right and lasted is the one from Drake. Correct cowl lid adjustment is crucial to a good seal - I learned that lesson a long time ago ....

I have the Drake replacement for my 42, it dropped right in with no problems, of course I did glue it.

I use the ones from Drake. As others have said the correct adjustment on the lid is very important.

I installed the DRAKE seal 30 years ago and it does not leak. Cowl vent adjustment is time consuming but crucial. Be sure to NOT install the new seal upside down.

Several posts have stressed proper adjustment. How do I get a proper adjustment. I see an adjustment for the entire cowl vent to go up and down, but mine needs for the front part of the vent to come down only. Is there an adjustment for that? The area is dark and cramped and is easy to miss an adjustment. PS. I have a 39 PU.

Drake or Dennis Carpenter fit fine.

Thanks for the input guys, ordering today. As for alignment there are several areas for adjustment.

I remember the pivot attachment below the vent on mine did have two slotted areas were I could align the vent, centering it in the cab opening with movement from passenger to driver side after checking opening and closing.

It's somewhat of a two part adjustment and cramped for sure. I had removed the gear shift lever to get some wiggle room. I had a thread on this with pictures of my vent assembly.
