Re: 40 Ford Heater
Are you looking for the hot air type or the hot water type?

Try Larry Caplan 19401 Clymer St. Northridge, Ca. 91326 818 366 9178 He may have what you want. He works on heaters and has a good supply. It has been some years since I dealt with him but he did good work.
Let me know if tou contact him. |

Re: 40 Ford Heater
If it's a 39/40 hot water heater you are after make sure it only has the 2 doors.
3 doors are for the later model cars. Both they and the hot air models come up on ebay from time to time. Prices for both types seem to run around $300 - $450. There are a lot more parts to the hot air heater. |

Where is the stock mounting position for a 40 ford hot-water heater in a Tudor Deluxe?

Re: 40 Ford Heater
Thanks! That is the place where my 46 heater is. My 40 does not have a heater but the previous owner put the fuse box where the heater belongs. What I have for the Fordy is a Zephyr model Tropic Aire. Is there templates to be had for that heater. And does anyone have info of the Tropic Aire being used in a 40? MY 46 circulates through the driver side bottom radiator hose and the passenger side head. Is a stock 40 Ford set-up like this?

Re: 40 Ford Heater
I would suggest starting with a copy of "The 1940 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club https://www.earlyfordv8.org/store-pr...fm?id=19&pid=2 so you can identify the correct original heater. If you just want an aftermarket heater from that era that works it will probably be cheaper. Place an ad in the wanted section, here and on the Early Ford V8 Club Site (http://www.earlyfordv8.org). It might be nice to include a picture (from google or EBAY) of the heater you want. A picture will let you catch the guys with old heaters that have no idea what they fit. Good luck.

Re: 40 Ford Heater
That is good news Marv. I was wondering about the defrosters. I don't believe my 40 has defroster vents. The heater has a manually operated door on the left side, near the top, I presumed to be the defroster. How many speeds does the blower motor have on your unit. I have no switch for this unit. Can you advise me on that issue?

Thank You for your offer.
Ken Bednar 5568 HWY 175 Hartford WI 53027 ( I think this what you meant by "pm") I don't use this site much & still learning. Plus being 73 doesn't help. Let me know if I should do something different. |
