Default Is this normal?

This is a original stock '52 Ford w/ FH V8 - AMP gauge jumps a little but stays on the "charging" side - is this normal - never saw this on my '50. If I should be concerned - is this a generator issue or regulator issue. FYI just installed new brushes in the generator and replaced both fan belts, also cleaned the points in the regulator with sand paper. I did this because a AMP gauge showing a discharge when I drove with lights on. Battery is showing +6 volts not running and at idle. I've got a new regulator on order but would rather not spend $50 bucks if not necessary.
Thx

200 people have viewed this - so I guess no one disagrees - just needs to break in the new brushes. Drove it several miles yesterday and it continues to improve - less jumping of the AMP needle.
Thx

Did you seat the brushes with sandpaper when you installed them?

It only takes a minute and solves the problem you are describing. I have an old Allen Electrical Service Manual that goes to great lengths to describe how to "Sand" the brushes. If you PM me with your email address I'll scan that piece and send it to you.
