Fram is now one of the worst Filters on the market. The inner paper material has been known to fail then you have no Filtered oil and no way of knowing it.
There is a very in depth study of all the various Oil Filters done a few years ago. I unfortunately don't have a link for it. I'm sure it can be found doing some googling.
