I believe the steel over wood bed was used on the shorter F1 versions. The 8 foot Expressbed was wooden as designed.

It brings back memories of my Pop's old 1952 F3. It was an unglamorous gray farm truck with a stump pulling 4-speed but I got good at double clutching in that old beast. I drove it more than the cars when I was learning how to drive. I sure miss that old turd. My Pop gave me the 51 Merc but he sold the F3. I wished we could have kept all the old flatheads.

Got home. The one button on the dash above the cig lighter was a wine cork pushed in a hole!

Great story and truck. Looks like you'll be roaring around in it in the not too distant future!

1 - The heavy three transmission to replace a four speed crash box. 2 - Sheet metal that isn't totally rusted away or beat to death (running boards and tail gate are on the top of this list). 3 - And the F-3 owners are all looking for wheels to replace the terrible 17 in units that came on their trucks. The only modification from stock I would make to your truck is to change out the 4.86 rear axle ratio (almost guaranteed to be in your truck) to a 4.11. Another forum that really gets into the 3/4 ton pickups is this one:http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/ |

Thanks for the heads up on the rear end. I will have to remember to look at the tag next time I am out and under it!

If your caps are the same as an F-1, I have an extra that matches your truck perfectly. Even has most of the blue paint still on the letters.

Thanks but the F2 are a lot deeper then F1's. The rear end sticks out a lot further on the 3/4 ton.
