Default Engine dies when given gas.

Ok. I thought I had this figured out. I'll have to check the timing tomorrow, I messed with it a little tonight trying to figure this out.

Started the car this morning. Perfect. Idles well, responds well when I give it plenty of gas and rev it up really good. I pulled it out of the driveway and ran her around the block. A little hesitation in second and third. I park it, turn it off, go inside and come back to go get some lunch in the A. Reverse out of the driveway, put it in first...ugly. Every time I step on the accelerator, it's trying to die.

I don't think It's fuel, as I can get a long steady stream from the line to the carb. I did have it timed well, but in my haste, I changed that, and I'll have to fix it.

Could this be a coil? I hesitate to think it's a leaky manifold since it did well the first time around the block this morning.

What would make spark intermittent?

Check the carburettor main jet for blockage.

accelerator pump in carb bad, look down carb throat when you open the throttle you should see a squirt of gas down the carb, coil bad or condenser bad, both will let the engine idle but will die as son as you step on throttle, to much compression for either to let the engine run, will idle but wont let rev, very slow timing will cause engine to heat and stumble as soon as you give it gas OPPS Model A,s don't have accelerator pumps my bad

Any place the wire or terminals can touch ground. Mine was the switch touching the gas tank.
When I first bought the car it was the short wire between the top and bottom distributor plates. When I moved the spark lever it would short to ground many times.
