I cannot state that this works because I have not had to remove a head, but it is what I've done with my heads, cast iron and aluminum, on two engines.

To me it is intuitive, if you keep the bolts or studs centered in their holes, then there should be little corrosion or electrolysis that impairs head removal. I also used anti-seize on the shanks as added insurance. Be aware, you have to buy a special bit to drill the heads to accept the washers.
