Default Ford 4R70W Transmission?

Is a 4R70W an AOD transmission? And will it fit a 302 engine?

It is an updated AOD with some upgrades for strength, the down side it is computer controlled so it would require a stand alone control box to use it.The best non-computer AOD's are 1988-93's they have the best lubrication upgrades and improved valve body. To learn more detail this is a great source: http://www.becontrols.com/techguide_2.htm This shows the controller unit and other options if you get the non-computer AOD get the boost-valve kit and shift kit,the boost valve is a weak link in early AOD's so it is a must upgrade. Both transmissions will bolt up to a 302 as long as you have the correct block separator plate and flexplate with the correct balance factor.
