Are you referring to the length of angle steel that functions as a "backer" and is visible from underneath? I have one in my late 1931 coupe.

No...It is a reinforcing strap about 1/2”W x 3"L with a hole in it and is spot welded to the sheet metal trough edge which accepts the Special Bolt to fix the Deck Door (Trunk Lid) Support Bracket on the left side of the trough only and is in plain sight if it is there.
