Default replacing shackle bushings

Well I bought my first T-a 24 Touring in fairly good shape. One job is to replace shackle bushings.

Do you need a spring spreader to relieve pressure on the springs to take out the shackles?

Which end are you replacing, front or rear? Take a good look at the Ford service manual. The factory recommended method for removing the rear axle is to remove the nuts holding the rear perch to the axle. The front can be removed by using boards or metal shims between the axle and spring eye to take the load off the perch.
