Default 1964 wagon rear window spring

So I removed the tailgate window regulator from my 1964 Country Sedan wagon because I needed to fix the electric motor. I've read my manual and it explains how to get the coiled assist spring off the arm, but now that I'm ready to put it back together I can figure out how to "clock" the two arms together or install the spring. Anyone done this before or have any idea what I'm talking about? I can't believe it isn't explained in the shop manual.....

Can you wire things in place and remove the wire once it's assembled?

Not a bad idea, but I don't know how I can do that. The regulator assembly bolts to the inside of the door after it is slid into place through a large hole towards the drivers side of the door. It would have to be mounted before I could "clock" the gears on the arms and install the spring. I don't think I can get to where the spring mounts with the regulator installed in the door.
I can't imagine that this is as difficult as it seems. I'm not the first person that has had to remove the regulator for service.....I just can't believe the Ford shop manual only describes how to remove, not install the regulator. I hope someone on here that's actually done this will chime in 'cuz my head is hurting from all the scratchin' I've been doing to it.

is there a way to clock the spring and use vise grips or large zip tie to hold spring in clocked position in order to slide into place and re-attach .... just kickin around ideas ?

Good idea. I guess the first and main question is how to clock the two arms. I can figure out a way to get the spring back on, I think, but I need to figure out how the two arms are "timed" with each other. Are they supposed to be timed so they are exactly straight (horizontal) at the mid-point or is there supposed to be an angle? I really wish I'd known to make a paint mark on the gears before I pulled the electric motor out. I had no idea the thing was under so much tension with that assist spring and would unwind as soon as the motor was removed.....
