Hey Ken - If it's what I think it is, the fiberglass may have the same heat properties, but it does not work the same. I've tried to recreate the asbestos sock with it but the stuff unravels in no time without some coating on it. I wasn't very happy with the results. You can get the fiberglass sock from ebay and avoid the middleman as well.
