Should be up under the dash behind the instrument cluster. See if you can trace the wires back from the turn indicator switch on the steering column.

Mine was laying on the shelf formed by the dash under the headlight switch.

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
I traded mine for a faster one recently and for the same reason, even if i run 12v. I was getting honked at for no reason as I made a turn with the signal on.
Mine was hanging just above the shelf ole don mentioned. Its big. Wierd you cant find it. |

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
Turn on a signal and feel around under the dash in the instrument cluster area. It's a mechanical switch and you can feel it working. Or cut a length of hose, put one end to your ear and probe around under there with the other end until you find it. Crude but effective.

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
From memory my 55 was in a spring push in bracket directly under the speedo with the wires pointing out. If you are putting in electrical (Newport Engineering) you will want the seats out. Getting those bolts in to fix the wiper motor can be a fair mongrel of a job.

Also if it's the original one it won't look like the modern one's it will be square like a relay. It will also be attached the the turn signal harness. That harness is short so it will be near by.

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
George, this may be of help it's the 1952-54 Ford wiring diagram: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/m...54-ford.40980/ For future use it will print to 8 x 10 but for about $6 at Fed-Ex copy places they can blow it up to 11" X 14" and laminate it that way you can read it better and take it to the garage and keep it grease proof.

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
My '55 was up near the light switch and very hard to find. I used a mirror and flashlight to find it. Echelin P/N 535 and also same number for the replacement made in Taiwan unit. Mine too was too slow, now the new made in Taiwan unit is way too fast; go figure!

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
The prongs look like this. l _ l Can anyone tell me what the center prong is for? My unit only uses the two end prongs. They are marked "L" on the left, "X" on the right and "P" in the center. The "P" prong is not used. Thanks, Motorhead.

Re: 1954 ford can,t find flasher under dash
X= power L==light P= pilot pilot being the light in dash not used in some applications as it is wired in line on switch
