Default Channels for seat springs

Does anyone know of a source for the steel/aluminum channels that are used on seat springs? These are the light gauge strips that are folded over and crimped onto the coils of the springs to hold them rigidly in place, Snyders makes/buys them for their springs but they don't offer them for sale in their catalog. I can make them but I don't have a brake here.

Yes Snuders makes it, ....but so can you. Shear a length of what you need and put it in a brake to bend it. We do this quite often when we are fitting springs to seat risers.

You can get parts from Snyders that are not in their catalog.

I called inquiring about individual seat spring coils. They put me right through to their upholstery shop. I told them what body style I had and which coils were broken. I could hear them flipping through blueprints to find the exact coils I needed. They then sold them to me at what I thought was very fair price.

I bet they would do the same with that channel. Certainly worth the call.

Well Back from my daughter's and son in law's in NJ. A belated Merry Christmas to everyone! Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Some problems! I was over to my friend Kris' shop, but he was out on a big job way from the shop. He has a nice 6' shear, however it is electric and for space saving, he moved it well away from the source of power. He's repairing those huge grapples (Claws) that the yards move old car bodies around with an excavator. So the shear was put out to pasture and like a mod A, it is rusting in the field. Oh well! So I poked around the scrap tub and I found some steel banding material. The 3/4" wide might be perfect. Except for the fact that one way or another, the stuff won't bend. Too sharp a bend and it cracks. His brake (3' manual) wouldn't give me what I wanted. The dies are too sharp and need to be blunted to a 1/16" radius. Something I'm not going to do to his machine. I tried doing it with a welding rod, but that was less than satisfactory too. So! I can't use band iron! I can't shear strips, and I can't bend them very well. Cheap as I am, I think I'm going to have call Snyders in the morning. I'll check with L-B s catalog also.

Terry try bending apiece of metal and leave it put then try bending your strap metal
That will give you a larger bend radius Maybe strap metal will not crack :-)

Ok I said I would give updates as I got more info, I called Snyders this AM and spoke with Chris in the spring shop. His words were "we have them but we don't sell them!"
I can understand, But...... I ain't buyin a new spring! Same thing with Lebaron Bonney.
I'll try a local fabrication shop and get a quote. After that, I'll try the scrap yards for material. Terry

Terry frm NJ. I just made several of those Channels for a spring seat that I am restoring. The channels that I made are 1/4"x 1/4"x 1/4" and are made from .025 Galvanize strips. If you e-mail me, as to how many channels you need and how long each is , I will make them for you free, if you pay the shipping. E-mail me @ [email protected]
