Default Gear oil

Another question about my model a I inherited. I wanted to top off gear oil in transmission and rear end. How do i do this. Looks like there is a fill and drain plug do i just fill it to bottom of top hole with 600w oil. Anyone have pictures of what I should be looking at just to make sure. Thanks inwantnto keep grandpas car in tip top shape.

i would drain both then refill till it is at the level of the fill holes.... this way you know what you got instead of just topping them off

Yes, just fill to the bottom of the top hole. I use the squeeze catsup bottle filled with 600W or an oil can.

Ditto!! It gives you the opportunity to see if there is anything in oil that should not be there as well.

purchase the 600w from one of the suppliers close to you..
the fill plug on the trans is located 1/2 way up on the r/s of the case.use a 5/8 open end wrench to remove both the fill and drain...
you can see the fill and drain plugs on this case which is upside down on the bench..

on the diff youll see the fill plug half way up the back above the drain...usually a 3/8 ratchet w/ small extension will fit and remove the plug...

It's the square head plug on the passenger side of the tranny. The plug is just to the left of the wishbone ball in this picture.
